Mystic Empyrean

Just to let you guys know, Mystic Empyrean is now available for preorder! I've been working with Brad (Kiyoshi-Kyokai) on this project for the past year, and am very excited to see the final product myself.

Mystic Empyrean is a unique Role Playing Game that focuses on world creation, social character development, and storytelling. You play as Eidolons, who are immortal beings of power, creation, and nature. One of the most fascinating things about Eidolons is that their personalities and actions manifest as physical traits and abilities. In other words, your powers are determined by the way you role-play your character, and you can develop different abilities and traits accordingly. Players can also build their own game worlds, and even have access to optional game systems such as summoning, crafting, geomancy, and alchemy so you can tailor the game experience to your preferences.

Please see the Kickstarter page for more information on the game as well as access to the game preview. If you're a tabletop RPer, make sure you check this one out!

Thank You

I would also like to thank everyone who has visited, viewed, commented, liked, saved, or +faved my art, or just been overall supportive and nice to me in general. I know there are a lot of comments I don't reply to - I'm not very good with words or people, and I never really know how to respond to compliments. But please know that I am ever-appreciative of the support. So really, thank you!

I know that as an artist, I still have a long long way to go. In the last year, especially, working on Mystic Empyrean, I have learned a lot about my limitations and shortcomings as an artist. I'm at the point where I really just want to branch out, experiment, and make some personal break-throughs. And for the first time in a long time, now that I'm no longer taking commissions, I am in a position to freely do so. From here on, I will continue to work hard, and perhaps someday I will actually feel deserving of all the praises and compliments I receive.

Regarding Commissions

Some people have inquired about commissions, and I'm sorry if I haven't gotten back to you after saying I would! The truth is, I am not and currently don't plan on take any more commissions, at least until further notice. I'm entering my final year in university, and I have SO much work that I really doubt I'll have the time or energy to expend on paid commission work. And whatever free art time I do have will be spent on personal art and self-improvement. I really am sorry about this! Regardless, thank you so much for considering.

Painting Videos

My Youtube Channel

I have received several requests for tutorials, and while I do not have plans to make a full-out one any time in the foreseeable future (nor would I be comfortable doing so when my own knowledge is so limited), I have recorded my painting process for those who are interested in seeing how I work.

That is all!

Best regards,

Hey guys!

Just wanted to let you know that I've started an art blog >>

It's nothing special - I just wanted a place to put up all my unfinished WIPs and sketches that never make it onto DA.

Anyways, hope everyone has had a good start to the new year.

I thought I should mention that Dragon Priestess will be in it!

A couple weeks late with the news, but I've been in shock. Honestly I didn't think it was gonna happen AT ALL.

Anyways, more importantly, I'm getting a free copy - my first of the series. =D =D

Congrats to all the other artists who made it in too!

I've decided to stop taking new commissions so I'll have some time off to work on personal art and do some learning/experimenting on my own terms. It's been fun and rewarding and has allowed me to assess my own skills from a much more objective and informative point of view. And I'm sending myself back to the bottom of the ladder. Of course before that happens, I need to finish my current commissions and requests first! On it.

School's great. Just great. And by that I mean not. At all. Ugh.

I'm pretty bummed that Assassin's Creed 2 for PC won't be out until 2010 (no I don't have a PS3, or a TV outside of home on the other side of the country, no need to rub it in). But I guess all good games can't come out at once, else I would get no work done at all whatsoever and fail all my exams as well as life and flunk out of university. I'm getting plenty of Borderlands and Dragon Age Origins as it is. And L4D2 is getting released 3 days before a massive assignment is due. Also 3 days before my cheese, chicken, and milk expire.

Don't ask but ever since I had to start cooking for myself, I've started memorizing expiry dates and would occasionally have nightmares about them.

Okay. Bye.

"Bite Me" on pg 115 along with 3 other sexy ladies with guns! Although I'm probably the worst on that page! Dx

But I'm still happy. I got the email notice a couple of weeks saying I'd been shortlisted, but honestly I didn't dare get my hopes up.

Yeahh. Anyways, that made my day!! Last couple weeks have been so stressful too.

I'm packing now, flight back to Ontario is tonight (and I haven't even started) so I'm gonna go.

For those who know of Aion and/or are planning to play it, check these out:……

ROFLMAO. I'm going server Azphel > Asmodian by the way. Let me know if you're playing. xD

Commissions Info

I'm not into English literature much, but strangely enough I do consider myself a Jane Austen fan. I've really enjoyed all the novels by her I've read so far.

So when I went to Chapters downtown today and saw this book on the shelf:… - I obviously couldn't resist picking it up. And guess what? It's awesome. Just awesome. Pure harmless hilarity. I was laughing by the end of the first sentence. The only thing I really wish was that they retained more of the original language (would have made it even more comical), instead of simplifying it so much. But then again, it does more obviously spell out some of the implications that are more easily missed when reading the original. Anyways, I'd recommend this book to anyone for a laugh if you've read Pride and Prejudice before, lovers and haters alike. If you haven't, though, it does lose most of its hilarity, because after all parodies don't mean much if you don't know the original.

Speaking of bookstores, I was surprised to find ImagineFX issues where being sold at Chapters. For the longest time I've had trouble finding these magazines in Canada, and I remember the last time I was at a local Chapters store, they didn't have it. Perhaps they only stock it at larger downtown branches? It *is* a bit pricey though ($20 CAD). Does anyone know any places in Vancouver and/or Toronto that sell ImagineFX issues for a little cheaper?

Anyways, all that aside, I've been pretty busy with commission work. Or really I'm just inefficient. I have a lot to do in the next 3 weeks before I fly back to Ontario and start preparing my new home there before the school year starts. I still need to buy furniture and figure out shipping and stuff. Summer break's practically over for me. Dx

Oh yeah, and I was tagged quite a long while ago but I never got around to making a journal entry for it. So here goes:

1}. Post these rules.
2}. Each tagged person must post 8 things about themselves on their journal.
3}. At the end you have to choose 8 people to tag, and post their icons on the same journal.
4}. Go to their page and send a message saying you tagged them.
5}. NO tag-backs.

1. I am obsessed with keeping software on my PC to a bare minimum. I thoroughly enjoy opening up my programs list and seeing a nice long scrollbar on the side and few things installed. I even refuse to use Firefox or Chrome or any other of those hip browsers because of this (though I do have a download manager and MPC - I consider these absolute essentials).

2. I have my social insurance number memorized, but not my mom's cell phone number.

3. I've moved ~10 times since I was born, 5 of which were moving overseas.

4. I'm my cat's favourite person.

5. I get extremely annoyed by images that are stretched out of their proper ratios in sigs/avators on forums. Is it so hard to hold shift when you resize? IS IT?!

6. I highly dislike facebook. Stalkable much?

7. I haven't ridden a bike in at least 6-7 years.

8. I sleep with my eyes open.
..Okay, not. I sleep with my eyes closed. I'm so normal.

I know I'm supposed to tag people, but a lot of people have already done this. Just do it if you haven't and want to.

(still closed until further notice, but feel free to note me to reserve a spot on the waiting list)

The thing about exams ending is that you run out of excuses to put off all the other things you were supposed to do, and you end up not being any less busy than when you were breaking open your skull studying.

I missed all the deadlines for contests I had really wanted to join. I honestly thought I would have had time for them, but I guess I completely overestimated myself.

Anyways, I am now back from my long neglection of DA, and will now proceed to catch up with comments and new deviations, as much as possible. I am also actively working on commissions now, but before I open them again I must take care of the waiting list and the dear people I have made wait way too long.

Also just finished putting together a beautiful new PC, after a very very long battle with TWO faulty parts that I had to RMA seperately. My luck with this build has been down in the drain, but it sure is beautiful now that it's up and running. <3

Status: Closed (I am officially stressed out! Dx)

*However, if you wish to commission me and don't mind waiting, please don't hesitate to note me anyway!

School has been unbelievable the past two weeks. Assignments and midterms and essays, on top of commissions which unfortunately I haven't been able to work much on (I'm sorry to those who are waiting, I will get to them ASAP!).

My sleeping pattern is messed up too. I -literally- sleep during the day now. I would stay up all night, go to lectures without having slept at all, come back and be out cold until 8-9 PM, and repeat routine. I AM FREAKIN NOCTURNAL. And I don't really eat properly because I miss all the times the cafeteria is open while I'm sleeping. ;_;

Anyway, I'm not going to go on much further about my horribly ridiculously unhealthy lifestyle (it's bad, don't try it). I just wanted to apologize to everyone for not returning comments, not commenting on new deviations, etc etc etc. I'M REALLY SORRY, I WILL GET TO THEM ONCE I AM ABLE. And thanks to all the friends and supporters and featurers and watchers and favers and YOU reading this, whoever you are, thank you for reading!

I just recently found out about this wonderful site:

They provide all sorts of different poses that you can view from all sorts of different angles. It's great for studying and referencing, and there's even a 30-second sketch session thing you can do for practice!

Anyways, just wanted to share with those who didn't know about this. BECAUSE I DIDN'T AND I WISH SOMEONE TOLD ME EARLIER. D<
